“Celebrate America with Prayer for America” will take place at Hillcrest Baptist Church at 40 Hallock St, Jamestown, on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Together with the Kiantone Congregational Church, the patriotic service at Hillcrest Baptist will feature the songs of God and country.

Included in the evening of celebrating our nation’s independence will be prayers for the nation, such as the historic prayer offered at the Continental Congress leading up to July 4, 1776.

There will also be historical vignettes featuring noted historian David Barton spelling out the unique relationship between God and country and fascinating connections of our nation’s independence to Chautauqua County.

Pastor Mel McGinnis of Kiantone Congregational said this special service offers the community at large, not just the church, the opportunity to join in a patriotic celebration as the nation is remembered in prayer.

“I appreciate the Hillcrest Baptist Church opening their doors to bring in another year of independence for our nation,” he said. “Besides being air conditioned, the church provides a wonderful setting for all there to sing ‘My Country Tis of Thee’ and ‘America, the Beautiful’ and other patriotic songs as we look to God in prayer for His counsel, wisdom and guidance. My late father, who pastored many years in our area would glow with enthusiasm for a service like this.”

Hillcrest Pastor Mark Hinman adds, “We preparing for a wonderful evening of celebration together as a community. I hope many will join us on Wednesday.”

For His Praise, a quartet of men from Hillcrest, will be feature a special patriotic rendition of one of America’s beloved music of God and country.
