Mayville Seniors To Meet Thursday

MAYVILLE — The Mayville Senior Citizens met recently for lunch.

After a lunch prepared by the group, Janet Loomis, president, began the meeting. Dianne Goodrich told one funny story and one serious story and then led all in the Lord’s Prayer. Loomis led the Pledge of Allegiance. The secretary and treasurer reports were read.

Jeff Wagner, Senior Council representative, said if anyone wanted to attend a Senior Council trip to let him know and he would give them the information needed. Mary Carlson, goodwill chairperson, listed the June birthdays and cards sent. Loomis and Wagner, tour directors, said there are 44 people going to Soar High with the Birds in Pittsburgh on July 23. When boarding the bus on June 18 for Galeton, Pa., it was requested to leave four empty seats up front.

The kitchen committee, composed of Louise Richir, Joyce Ayers, Dolly Gilbert and Nancy Cole, were thanked.

Door prizes were won by Edna Brown, Nancy Cole, Jerry White and Bob Cole. Also Loomis reminded all to sign up for subs that will be served at the July 18 meeting. Many stayed after the meeting to play bingo with Wagner.

At the next meeting at noon June 20 at the Mayville VFW, Walter Pickut, contributing editor for the weekly Jamestown Gazette, will share some of his favorite interesting stories. An official from the Office for the Aging will also be at the meeting with tickets for the Office for the Aging picnic July 19 at Midway State Park.
