Katheryn Lowe is Southwestern Middle School’s eighth-grade recipient of the state Comptroller’s Student Achievement Award.

The faculty nominates students who have demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to public service.

District officials said Katheryn has shown academic excellence and the potential for leadership through involvement in activities that improve the school and/or the community.
