WESTFIELD — A regular business meeting of the Benjamin Prescott Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was held at the Patterson Library in Westfield on May 2, the National Day of Prayer. There were 14 members present. The meeting was called to order with the opening ritual performed by Regent Brenda Johnson.

The induction of new officers took place at the meeting. They are: Brenda Johnson, regent; Roxanne Wood, vice regent; Bonnie Larkin, treasurer; Linda Kuzara, secretary; Barbara Pietro, registrar; Myra Johnston, historian; and Lisa Sedlmayer, xhaplain.

A card was signed by chapter members to thank Wilhelmena Rhodes-Kelly, vice regent of New York state, for attending the chapter’s 120th anniversary celebration held at the Athenaeum Hotel in Chautauqua.

A card was then read from Meredith Chilson, District VIII director, thanking the chapter for a wonderful time at our 120th anniversary celebration. Regent Johnson then read a card from Wilhelmena Rhodes-Kelly, vice regent of New York state, thanking the members for the wonderful time she had at our 120th anniversary celebration.

Johnson stated that the ROTC scholarship and medal which the chapter awards will be sometime in June. Bonnie Larkin, treasurer, said she would be willing to present the awards this year. Any member may also attend the event.

Suggestions for summer field trips were discussed. It was decided that the July field trip would be on Thursday, July 11.

The chapter will tour the World War II Museum in Eldred, Pa. After the tour, the members will eat at Sprague’s Maple Farms in Portville. A possible field trip to Vikings Summer Lodge in Maple Springs was discussed for some time in August.

The next regular meeting is June 14, Flag Day, at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk at 5 p.m. This will be a dinner meeting with Johnson giving a presentation on the Invasion of Normandy.
