Thule Lodge Plans Easter Dinner For Thursday April 25

FALCONER — The Thule Lodge now into its 112th year in the Jamestown area, serves to preserve the Swedish heritage through events and activities. This was shown at the last meeting when cultural leader Mary Ann Eva Ingrao told all that in Sweden, March 25 was national waffle day. That day is a Christian holiday, as it is just nine months until Christmas day. This is one of the many Swedish holidays.

Tom Eckberg serves as the lodge chairman and welcomed all to the recent meeting. New members Stephanie Buccolo and Janet Pickett were received in the lodge. District Master Edwin Sandberg installed the new officers for the year 2019, and remarked that “as past district master, I have duly installed the new officers for Thule Lodge No. 127.”

Thule Lodge is part of the international Swedish organization known as VASA. Susan W. Sipos is the vice chairman, and created the annual calendar of events for the lodge. Copies are available.

Loretta Smith serves as the financial secretary and treasurer, and Bernice Veights is the membership chairman and assistant mistress of ceremony. Donna Johnson is the mistress of ceremony. John Sipos serves as the lodge historian now into his 20th year, and also as the temporary recording secretary. Diane Shaw is the chaplain for the lodge giving the opening and closing invocations.

On Thursday, April 25, at 5:30 p.m., Thule Lodge will hold its annual Easter dinner at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer. This dinner in Swedish is known as the egg-sexa, meaning foods made with eggs. The meal will be catered by the 3-C’s of Falconer. Reservations are necessary and members will be contacted for their reservation. The regular meeting of the lodge will follow the dinner at 7 p.m..
