Artwork from eight Jamestown High School students were recently selected from over 300 entries to be a part of the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts Juried High School Art Show. The JHS students selected for the show were: Abigail Nordwall (12th Grade), Alayne Schobey (11th Grade), Dani’el Martin, (10th Grade), Danielle McIlvain, (11th Grade), Jillian VanHouten (11th Grade), Kendra Nickerson (12th Grade), Lily Foster (10th Grade) and Madison Kehe (11th Grade). Only 75 works were selected for entry into the exhibition from over 200 submissions.

“It is a great honor to have our student’s artwork selected by a university with an accredited art program, from over 300 works of art sent in by schools across Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties,” said JHS art teacher Brandy Fuller. “It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to get their work viewed beyond our community, and for them to be acknowledged for their talent and skill by other art professionals.”

Works were chosen for admittance by four judges who are working professionals in the Arts and High Education fields and entry was determined using criteria drawn from college level rubrics in the Visual Arts as well as other juried art exhibition guidelines and requirements from the surrounding areas. The JHS artwork selected was created this school year during Advanced Studio classes.
