Kent Tucker To Perform On Friday

On Friday, the Infinity Jazz Concert Series at 302 E. Third St., Jamestown, will feature An Evening of Jazz with Kent Tucker and the All-Star Big Band at 7 p.m.

The concert is sponsored in part by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. There is no admission price. The concert is open to the public and a free will offering will be accepted at intermission.

The evening will feature jazz musician, Kent Tucker, who performs frequently throughout the tri-state region as a professional trombonist.

Tucker has been featured with the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra, the Erie Chamber Orchestra, the Erie Ballet Orchestra, the Bemus Bay Pops Orchestra, Presque Isle Brass, 7th and Sass Brass, the Keystone Bavarians, and the trombone quartet Let it Slide.

As a jazz artist he has performed with the Misery Bay Big Band, the Dave Stevens Big Band, the Dixie Doodlers, the Bayfront Dixieland Jazz Band and Sack of Bones.

Tucker has performed with the Four Freshmen, Bobby Vinton, and the Temptations. He is a member of the award-winning Erie band, The Groove, winning the 2018 Rock Erie Music Award for horn player.

The All-Star Big Band will also feature Jon Wilder on trumpet, Marc Cousins on bass, Carl Alanakian on drums, Nick Weiser on piano and Infinity Jazz Series host, John Cross, on alto saxophone.

During intermission the American Music Abroad European Tour giveaway will be held to help send 11 Jamestown High School students to perform and tour in Europe for three weeks in July and August 2019. AMA participants in Concert Choir, Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble include Abigail Beach, Courtney Gray, Ethan Haight, Courtney Hays, Elyse Jones, Ellen Cross, Andrew Laurin, Ashley Patch, Allison Tilburg, Jasmine Rollinger and alto saxophonist, Colin Swindell, will also be sitting in with the big band. Tickets are $5 each available from the students and will feature prizes including a Weber Q Grill, Telecaster Guitar, X-Box, $50 Amazon gift card, Stained Glass Mirror, Pyrex and Snapware Kitchen Storage Sets, Personal Massage, Viking Ring Money from 800 AD, and National Comedy Center and Lucy-Desi-Museum admissions.

A variety of Glen Miller and other classic big band repertoire will be performed including “Stompin’ at the Savoy,” “In the Mood,” “String of Pearls,” “Satin Doll,” “The Shadow of your Smile,” “Shiny Stockings,” “New York, New York,” “Little Brown Jug,” “Star Dust,” “Tenderly,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” “Jersey Bounce,” “Misty,” “Moonlight Serenade,” “Tea for Two,” “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” “Girl from Ipanema,” “Don’t Be That Way,” “Tuxedo Junction,” and “Perdido.”

Entrance to the Infiniity Arts Cafe is under the guitar on the corner of Prendergast Avenue and Third Street. Guests needing handicapped access can contact Infinity ahead of time at 664-0991 to let them know they will need to be let in at the Second Street entrance.
