Chautauqua Hometown Heroes Veterans Memorial Committee and the village of Mayville have established a fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation to support the construction of a veteran’s memorial.

The Committee is hosting a brick campaign and invites veterans, family members, friends and businesses to purchase a personalized engraved brick to be permanently displayed as part of the memorial.

The Chautauqua Hometown Heroes Veterans Memorial will be a gazebo located in the Mayville cemetery, the structure will have three walls of commemorative bricks honoring service men and women. Sponsors and non-military bricks may also be purchased and will be displayed on the outside walls of the structure.

“In our county, there are many past and present members of the military,” stated James Thomas. CHHVM committee member. “These brave individuals from our area currently lack a memorial in their honor, the Chautauqua Hometown Heroes Veterans Memorial will be used to recognize their service.”

For more information on how to purchase a brick please contact Clara Dunbar at 581-1790, Thomas Jordan at 224-1195 or hherochq@gmail.com. To make a monetary donation to the fund contact the Community Foundation at 661-3390 visit crcfonline.org.
