Alzheimer’s Association To Host Support Group Meetings

The Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York holds facilitator training for those who want to lead monthly caregiver support groups in six locations across Chautauqua County.

The support groups allow caregivers to connect with others facing similar challenges and hear advice for overcoming them. Support group meetings are held at the following dates and times:

¯ 5:15 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 10836 Temple Road, Dunkirk;

¯ 10 a.m. the second and fourth Friday of each month at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk;

¯ 4:30 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month at Fredonia Place, 50 Howard St., Fredonia;

¯ 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Jamestown Area Medical Associates, 15 S. Main St., Jamestown. Respite care may be available at this location. For more information, call 800-272-3900;

¯ 5:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave., Fluvanna;

¯ A group meets regularly in Westfield, but the schedule and location is irregular. For more information, call Jennifer Ellman at the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging for updated information at 753-4781.

Programs are free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged to ensure there are enough materials and to relay any changes to the schedules. To reserve a seat and learn more about other Alzheimer’s Association programs and services, contact the Western New York Chapter office at 800-272-3900.
