The 3rd on 3rd Gallery presents Ashley Ordines’ art exhibition Machines beginning Tuesday at 10 a.m. The gallery will be open for a free public reception on Friday at 7 p.m.

Machines is a series of abstract, watercolor/pen and ink illustrations that focuses on elements of design, fantasy and minimalism, coupled with inspiration from nature and every-day objects. Each piece is representative of a functioning, mechanical “machine” with an abstract twist. Machines is made possible in part by support from the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County Projects Pool Grants Program.

Ashley Ordines is an illustrator/concept artist who works primarily in watercolor, pen and ink and acrylic paint. Her art is heavily influenced by the natural world and her passion for the environment. She draws inspiration from a variety of sources including video games, mid-century concept art, Shel Silverstein, Beatrix Potter and Hieronymus Bosch.

Ordines received a bachelor’s degree in print journalism and mass communications from Edinboro University in 2014 and an associate’s degree in fine arts from Jamestown Community College in 2011. She is a recipient of a 2018 United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County Projects Pool Grant for her series Machines. Ordines’ work can also be seen in the storefront of 105 W. Third St., Jamestown, as a part of a project with the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation. In addition to working as an artist, Ordines teaches private and group art lessons at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts and is the marketing coordinator for the YWCA of Jamestown.

A free public reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Machines will also be open between 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday during Infinity Visual and Performing Arts’ Local Music Showcase. Machines runs through Sept. 22.

Public gallery hours are 10 a.m. until 6 p.m Tuesday through Saturday. The 3rd on 3rd Gallery will be closed Sundays, Mondays and most major holidays.

Exhibitions at 3rd on 3rd Gallery are made possible by support from New York State Council on the Arts. The next show in the gallery will be Kozo — a Japanese-inspired paper art show opening Sept. 25. It is presented in conjunction with the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts live drumming concert TaikoProject on Sept. 26.

The 3rd On 3rd Gallery is located at 108 E. Third St. in the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts in Jamestown. For more information, visit reglenna.com.
