Although it’s been more than four decades since Chi Sigma Chi fraternity brothers walked the halls of Jamestown High School, many of them still recall the lessons they learned.

For nearly 50 years, members of Chi Sig and other local fraternities, would play basketball at what was then called The Boys Club. Members also utilized the space for meetings and other youth activities, allowing them to have a safe place to gather.

In 2010, members of Chi Sigma Chi established a fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. The Chi Sigma Chi Remembrance Fund provides annual support to youth development programs at the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown, so that youth will continue to have a safe place to gather, learn and play.

Today, Chi Sig’s alumni group, known as The Hourglass Club, sponsors a reunion picnic for members and their families. This year’s picnic marks the 16th year of this event and will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Viking Lake Park. Guests are asked to bring a dish to pass

Proceeds from the picnic benefit the Chi Sigma Chi Remembrance Fund.

For more information on the reunion, contact Ollie Erickson at 483-1700.
