The Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue Dog of the Week is Freddie, a small beagle/terrier mix who has a firecracker personality once he knows someone. He zooms around with his kennel buddy Zeus, so he is small-dog friendly and supposedly cat friendly, too. He can be shy at first, but warms up quickly when petted by a kind and gentle hand. The shelter is located at 7540 N. Gale St., Westfield, and is open from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday or by appointment by calling 326-7297.
