Cattaraugus County Museum To Host ‘Family Day’

MACHIAS — The Cattaraugus County Museum and Research Library will host its third annual “Family Day at the Museum” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The event, which will take place during New York State’s spring Path Through History Weekend, will provide programming for the entire family.

To begin the programming, the WNY Fiddle Kids will perform at 12:30 p.m. The Fiddle Kids, led by Heather Pennington of East Concord, range in age from 9 to 18. It will be their third appearance at the museum.

At 2 p.m. there will be an educational program on local birds of prey given by Wild Spirit Education of Delevan. Wild Spirit, founded by Paul Fehringer, is dedicated to educating the public about the natural world in addition to their work rescuing and rehabilitating sick, injured and orphaned wild animals.

In addition, visitors can participate in the “Pioneer’s Journey” hands-on educational program and watch a blacksmithing demonstration on-site. Boy Scout Troop 627 will be selling hot dogs and other refreshments.

The Cattaraugus County Museum is located in the Stone House, 9824 Route 16 in Machias. Regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 353-8200 or visit cattco.org/museum.
