Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy To Host Tour Of Oxbow Preserve Saturday

The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy invites the public to a Stewarding Our Great Lake’s Waters and Watershed Tour at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Chautauqua Creek Oxbow Preserve near Westfield.

Jonathan Townsend, Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy lands manager, and Jennifer Phillips Russo, conservationist, will lead a walking presentation to learn about land use impacts on streams, drinking water and Lake Erie, personal stewardship of water resources and the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy’s mission to promote healthy watershed for healthy waters. The presentation is part of CWC’s Healthy Landscapes for Healthy Waters program which aims to educate people on the relationship between land use and water quality.

The presentation is open to the public free of charge. Pre-registration is appreciated but not required.

The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy is a private non-profit, public benefit watershed education, pollution prevention and land conservation organization with the mission to preserve and enhance the water quality, scenic beauty and ecological health of the lakes, streams and watersheds county-wide. It works with landowners, businesses and governments to responsibly steward the landscape features most important to collecting, storing, filtering and delivering clean water to wells, public water supplies, streams and lakes.
