FREWSBURG — George and Linda Colburn of Colburns A/C & R Inc. are passing the torch to the capable hands of their son, Christopher Colburn, and nephew, Robert Colburn.

George and his brother, Gordon, started the company in 1972. Over the years, they have earned a reputation for providing quality service and keeping their customers’ homes and businesses comfortable and safe. Many of their customers have been with Colburns for 20 or 30 years. Colburns A/C & R was an early leader in providing duct cleaning service and indoor air quality products and services.

This is especially relevant now in the age of COVID-19.

In 2002, Gordon retired and passed ownership on to George and Linda. Robert Colburn joined the company in 1994 and served until 2010, acting as service manager after Gordon retired. He recently returned with 26 years of experience in the industry to join Christopher for the next chapter in the company’s history.

Christopher worked with the company from 1995-2002. He returned to the area from Arizona in 2014 and rejoined the company; he has been managing day-to-day operations in recent years as the founders prepare to retire.

Russ Payne, Carroll town supervisor, is pictured presenting a plaque to George Colburn.

The new owners are excited to continue the tradition of providing quality equipment and service to the community. They look forward to growing the company to serve even more happy customers.

A reception was held recently to honor George and Linda for their many years of hard work and to introduce the new owners. Many former employees, suppliers, family members and even some customers stopped by to share in the celebration.

To add gravitas to the celebration, Russ Payne, Carroll town supervisor, presented George and Linda with a plaque to commemorate their retirement.
