Bush Industries Awarded State Contract

For the first time, Bush Industries Inc. has received a New York state contract for the sale and installation of commercial office furniture.

The contract allows the Jamestown-based manufacturer to sell professional-grade products to any state agency. The company may now bid on opportunities for schools and universities, as well as local municipalities and statewide agencies.

Bush Industries has held a general services administration federal government contract since 2009. However, the company had been unable to sell commercial furnishings to agencies in its home state until the contract was approved by the New York Office of General Services on May 23.

“We’ve been passionate about receiving a New York state contract, and we think it’s a win-win for Bush Industries and agencies statewide,” said Michael Evans, president and CEO. “We have solutions for all types of workspaces in numerous styles, formats and finishes, and we rigorously test each product to meet the highest industry standards for commercial quality. We also pride ourselves on making the customer experience easy, fast and affordable with delivery and installation services that are next to none.”

The company has experienced significant sales growth for the past several years, due in large part to an investment in new product introductions, Evans said. Bush Industries has launched more than 170 new items so far in 2019 with many additional collections scheduled for the second half of the year. The company’s new and existing lines will provide state agencies with quality furniture for private offices, collaborative environments, reception areas, meeting spaces, classrooms and beyond, according to Evans.

“Our company and team continue to grow as we invest in new designs, collections and finishes,” he said. “Most of our employees live and work in the Empire State, and we’re confident the schools and governments will come to appreciate the skill and dedication of our team. It’s our 60th anniversary in Western New York, and we’re thrilled to celebrate by growing our business in our home state.”

The five-year statewide contract includes all of Bush Industries’ commercial-grade collections manufactured and tested in Jamestown. These lines all meet or exceed ANSI/BIFMA industry standards for performance and durability in a full-time office setting. Products on contract range from executive and open plan office furniture to height adjustable standing desks, conference tables, file cabinets, bookcases, hutches, training tables, privacy screens and more.

Bush Industries is uniquely positioned to quickly fulfill customer orders with fully stocked products ready to ship within 24 hours.

“Our business model allows us to get product to customers fast all across the country, and especially in our home state,” he said, noting the average delivery time for Bush Industries furniture is three to five business days nationwide. “With our headquarters in Jamestown and distribution center in nearby Erie, Pa., we know customers in New York will get quality office furniture as soon as they need it.”

The New York contract also includes Bush Industries’ Install 360 services, which feature free space planning, flexible delivery and complete assembly with package removal in a single visit. Professionally designed space plans contain 2-D and 3-D layouts of each individual workspace turned around within 48 hours with free and unlimited revisions.

Large orders are automatically upgraded to inside room of choice delivery and scheduled at the customer’s convenience.

Bush Industries’ contract number is PC68294. Agencies can purchase directly through Bush Industries or from select furniture dealers statewide. For questions, quotes or servicing dealer opportunities, contact Steve Pettia, regional vice president, at StevePettia@bushindustries.com or 499-4051.
