Two local ladies have given a local Bemus Point boutique a refresh.

Angie Lipari and Brenda Gernatt, co-owners of Re-Imagine, have taken over what once was called “Imagine” and have repurposed it. Adding in furniture they have redone, custom signs, work from local artisans and more, the store is much more than a gift shop.

Gernatt said the store officially opened on May 6. Several items offered in the store are new, including the custom items.

“We do custom wood signs, and we’ve gotten several orders of those recently,” she said. “We can put anything you want on them. We do custom furniture, and that’s what sets us apart — we do custom stuff.”

The store also offers a variety of jewelry and summer clothing, Gernatt added. However, summer isn’t the only season the business is gearing up for.

“Our goal is to be open year round,” she said. “We will be doing the holiday season here, so we really want people to know that. It’s nice because we’re right next to the Bemus Point Inn.”

Gernatt said she and Lipari always wanted to own a store, and decided to jump right in when they got the chance.

The store was previously owned by the aunt of Lipari’s husband who sold yarn and jewelry in the shop. She also offered jewelry and knitting classes, but recently decided she did not want to operate the location anymore.

“Brenda and I had just started doing furniture, and we were looking for a place to put our stuff, and she said, ‘Well this could be the best of both worlds: you take over the store, put your stuff in and sell some of my stuff,'” Lipari said. “When this opportunity showed up, (we) were like ‘We’re grabbing it.’ We didn’t plan ahead completely, we just were like ‘Let’s go for it.'”

The pair had a month and a half to prepare to open the store, and have learned a lot over their time with the store.

“It was a learning curve for us,” Lipari said. “We’ve had a great time just being here and meeting the people.”

She said Bemus is local business friendly, and the support of the community and fellow businesses has been great.

The shop is located at 4950 Main St. in Bemus Point and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call 386-2244 or find them on Facebook.

“It’s not what it used to be anymore,” said Gernatt. “It’s a brand new store and there are a lot of brand new things coming in.”
