Jamestown Engine Plant Donates To United Way
Recently, Jamestown Engine Plant employees gave $219,536.20 to their annual giving campaign.
The Cummins Foundation matched each dollar that employees gave and gifted an additional $219,536.20 for a total of $439,072.40. The following United Way organizations received donations: United Way of Southern Chautauqua County, United Way of Cattaraugus County, Warren United Fund and Erie County Pennyslvania United Way.
Employees may specify to which United Way agency they wish their gifts to be given. The donation was the largest in the plant’s history.
“As one of the region’s largest employers, Cummins and our employees make a significant impact on our community,” said Mike Abbate, plant manager of heavy-duty operations. “Our employees produced a record number of engines. As a result of their generosity, we are making a difference in the lives of many people here in the local community.”
In 2014, as a result of an education campaign to reach workers on all shifts, an increasing number of Cummins employees contributed to the annual charity drive, making the Jamestown Engine Pant the largest United Way donor countywide. Employees have participated annually since 1980 in the charity drive, raising more than $3 million.
