Bridge Repairs To Close Road

A bridge on Fox Road in the town of North Harmony, between Route 33 and Randolph Road, will be closed to all traffic beginning today for repairs to the bridge. A detour will be posted.

Chicken BBQ Set For Saturday

SHERMAN — Sherman Community Church, 107 Church St., is having a chicken barbecue on Saturday at 4 p.m. until gone. The barbecue will be held rain or shine. The cost is $15. Barbecues are available by pick-up in the church parking lot.

Ripley School Board Meets Tuesday

RIPLEY — A special meeting of the Ripley School Board will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in room 204 to review and accept the unofficial results of the 2022-23 budget vote and election of board members.

Westfield Group To Hold Yard Sale May 28

WESTFIELD — The United Methodist Women of Westfield are sponsoring a yard sale on Saturday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. To rent a space for $20 contact the church office at 716-326-3243. Those selling items must provide their own table.

Villenova Group Planning Bake Sale May 28

VILLENOVA — Following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Villenova Burial Association will be holding its fifth Annual ‘Love Remembered’ Bake Sale in the entryway of the South Dayton Supermarket on Saturday, May 28 beginning at 9 a.m.. There will be dozens of homemade goodies consisting of pies, bread, cookies, candy, cupcakes, cakes. There will also be a donation box.

The fundraiser theme is a symbol of remembering those held close in our hearts during this long weekend of remembrance! All proceeds will help defray the maintenance and operating costs of the Villenova Cemetery. The event also offers an opportunity for members of the community to learn about the Association and how they might help in efforts to maintain and preserve the over 200-year-old cemetery.

Jamestown Memorial Day Parade Update

The Jamestown Memorial Day Parade route will now only be down Lakeview Avenue. There is also no ceremony at Lakeview Cemetery. The Veterans Council of Jamestown is still looking for participants in the Memorial Day Parade scheduled on May 30 in Jamestown. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to participate following the guidelines by calling Kim Ecklund at 664-0405 or visiting https://forms.gle/7A8ca1VcYMBcoxo68. Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.  Groups are encouraged to honor the U.S. military; no hand-outs, including candy, Parade line up will begin at 9 a.m. The parade will step off promptly at 10 a.m. The parade will travel down Fourth Street to Prendergast Avenue and continue to Sixth Street to Lakeview Avenue, continuing down Lakeview Avenue to Buffalo Street.
