Gas Prices Up Again Locally

The average price for a gallon of gas in Jamestown is 7 cents higher this week at $4.397, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report. The average price during the week of May 2 was $4.329 while the cost during the week of May 10, 2021, was $2.998. Drivers are paying considerably more at the pump as the cost of gasoline moves steadily higher. In the past two weeks, the national average for a gallon of gasoline has risen 20 cents to $4.32, a penny less than the record high set on March 11 and $1.36 more than a year ago. The increase is primarily due to the high cost of crude oil, which was hovering near $100 a barrel last week and is now closing in on $110.

JCC Board Of Trustees To Hold Several Committee Meetings Tuesday

The Jamestown Community College Board of Trustees’ will hold several committee meetings on Tuesday. The meetings will be held via videoconference between the boardrooms on the Jamestown Campus, Jamestown; Cattaraugus County Campus, Olean; and the North County Extension Center. Dunkirk. The Educational Services Committee will meet at 3 p.m. the Human Resources Committee will meet at 4 p.m. and the Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m.

Jackson Opinion Topic Of Fenton Event

A 1943 U.S. Supreme Court opinion by Justice Robert Jackson is the topic of a discussion at noon Wednesday at the Fenton History Center, 67 Washington St., Jamestown. The event, part of the center’s local-history series, is free and open to the public. Those attending may bring their own lunch and take part in a discussion led by constitutional-lawyer Randy Elf on West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette. Barnette addresses compelled speech in the form of the pledge of allegiance.

Rodeo City Seniors Meet

Friday

GERRY — The Rodeo City Senior Citizens will meet at noon Friday in the Gerry United Methodist Church for its monthly luncheon and program. All those attending are asked to bring a dish of food to share and their own table service. The guest speaker will give a program after the luncheon.

IDA Committee Meets May 13

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency Governance Committee will meet at 11:55 a.m. Friday, May 13, at the BWB Building, 201 W. Third St., Jamestown.

Plow Day Rescheduled To May 14

STOCKTON — Due to wet conditions and the weather forecast, the Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association’s Annual Plow Day is being postponed until Saturday, May 14 beginning at about 9 a.m. We will be plowing fields at Bowen and Dean roads. Then if time permits, also plowing on Barnes Road. Bring your Plows and help us turn some soil or come watch the fun!
