Annual Budget Hearing To Be Held

PANAMA — The Panama Central School Board of Education will hold its annual budget hearing Monday at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. There will also be a scheduled board meeting following the budget hearing in the board room. Both meetings are open to the public.

Members Of Southwestern School Board To Meet

Members of the Southwestern Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the high school multi-purpose room. Those who wish to attend should contact the district clerk at 484-1137 or by email at psagurney@swcsk12.org to make arrangements before the meeting.

Guest Speaker Series Continues

The Bemus Point Historical Society guest speaker series continues Wednesday, May 11, as Fletcher Ward will be speaking on early aviation history of the Chautauqua area. The presentation will center around the earliest aviators, the hot air and lighter-than-air balloonists, who were the real pioneers of aviation around Chautauqua. The program will be held at the Bemus Point Village Hall on Alburtus Avenue in Bemus Point. The museum will be open at 6 p.m. and the program will start at 7 p.m. Social distancing will be observed and the wearing of masks is welcomed.

BOE Budget Hearing To Be Held

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education budget hearing will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Jamestown High School auditorium, 350 E. Second St. The public is welcome to attend.

Library To Host Author

Hazeltine Public Library, 891 Busti Sugar Grove Road, will be host author Isaish Rashad II at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10. The event, free and open to the public, will be held at the Hazeltine Public Library Community Building. Rashad, a Buffalo native, will be discussing his newest release “Homicide of a Rat.” The book touches on the questions of right and wrong and makes the reader think about their beliefs and the perception of right and wrong.

Meeting Set

STOW — The United Senior Council of Chautauqua County will have its next meeting on Thursday, May 12, at the North Harmony Senior Center in Stow. The meeting will include the group’s annual trivia contest that will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Registration is at 12:30 p.m. Dennis Webster from Media One will be the moderator. There will be prizes for the first, second and third place winners. Refreshments will be provided. All seniors from Chautauqua County are welcome to attend the monthly meetings.
