Rod And Gun Auxiliary To Meet

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Auxiliary meetings will be held Tuesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in the board room. Greeters are Ann Gullotti and Marilyn Trusso. Helpers will be Karen Carlson and Arline Hazenberg. Refreshments will be provided by Angie Peck and Sally Hagg. Harmony Senior Citizens Meeting Canceled

PANAMA — The Harmony Senior Citizens meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 3, has been canceled. Regular meetings will resume on Thursday, April 7, at noon at the Panama United Methodist Church. A tureen dinner is being planned. More info to follow.

Gas Price Increases 5 Cents

The average price for a gallon of gas in Jamestown is 5 cents higher this week at $3.751, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report. The average price during the week of March 1, 2021, was $2.792. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has caused uneasiness in the oil market, with crude spiking briefly to over $100 per barrel before settling back into the mid-$90s. The increase in the global price of oil has led to higher pump prices in the U.S. The national average for a gallon of gas has risen to $3.61, 8 cents more than a week ago, 26 cents more than a month ago and 90 cents more than a year ago.

Mozart Club To Feature Pianist

The Mozart Club will feature pianist Ron McEntire at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, at the Marvin House. Potential members interested in music may send an email to mozartclubofjamestown@gmail.com to obtain further information. All are welcome to attend.

Comedy Center Offers Field Trips

The National Comedy Center is offering “Family Field Trips” for New York state youth. Youth are admitted for free through April 16 with a paid adult admission, with up to two children or teens per adult. Advanced reservations are available at ComedyCenter.org/Family. The National Comedy Center is open Thursdays through Mondays from 10 am to 5 pm, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

CAP Host Annual Diamond Dinner

The Child Advocacy Program will be hosting a 10th Anniversary Diamond Dinner and Auction April 2 at the Chautauqua Suites in Mayville. “Due to the pandemic, CAP has not been able to hold this signature fundraiser for two years now,” said Beth Oakes, CAP executive director. “We are excited to be able to see our sponsors, community supporters and friends in person this year.” Tickets are on sale and can be bought through the CAP website at www.capjustice.org, or by calling 716-338-9844. Tickets are $75 each or two for $125. In 2021, CAP served 450 youth, provided 67 medicals and 170 forensic interviews. CAP raises about 12% of its budget annually and this event helps the agency reach its goal.
