Center Road (Route 79) Closed 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday

Railroad crews will be making repairs to the Center Road (Chautauqua County Route 79) Norfolk-Southern railroad crossing located in Sheridan. Center Road will be closed to all traffic at the Norfolk-Southern railroad crossing beginning at 7 a.m. today until 5 p.m. Thursday. A detour will not be posted.

Counties Under Weather Advisory

Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties remained under a winter weather advisory. Between 3 and 5 inches of snow was possible in some locations, the National Weather Service in Buffalo stated. “The most snow will occur over the higher terrain,” the weather service said. The advisory was scheduled to be lifted around 7 a.m. today. “Plan on slippery road conditions,” the weather service said. “The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute tonight and the morning commute on Tuesday. … Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.”

Swedish Culture Day At JCC Is Canceled

The Swedish Culture Day at Jamestown Community College has been canceled for December and January because of the continued COVID spread. This includes the Julmarknad typically held at JCC in December.

Drive-Through At East Randoph United Methodist Church

RANDOLPH — A drive-through living nativity will be held at the East Randolph United Methodist Church from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 4, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18. Those attending are asked to remain in their vehicles at all times. Those who choose to open their windows must wear a mask. The event is free to the public. To enter, turn onto Cemetery Road from Route 394 in East Randolph. Proceed to the church parking lot by following the signs.

Sherman Stanley Hose Auxiliary Drive-Through

SHERMAN — A drive-through only chicken and biscuit lunch to support the Sherman Stanley Hose Auxiliary will be held starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Stanley Hose Company, 122 Park St., Sherman. The cost is $12 per meal and includes chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes, a vegetable and dessert by Becky’s Bakery.
