North Harmony Senior Citizens Hold Meeting

STOW — North Harmony Senior Citizens met June 21 with 36 members in attendance. Normal club business was conducted and the board advised that it will resume renting the clubhouse to members and non-members. Relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions made the decision possible. Birthdays of Dennis Cornell, Becky Deault and Barb Price were celebrated and anniversaries of Kathy and Brian Westerdahl and Juanita and Paul Holthouse were acknowledged. The board announced there would be no yard sale held this year. A decision has been made to dispose of excess China dishes and kitchenware and they are offered free to anyone who can make use of them. An announcement was made of the upcoming open house July 31 at the North Harmony Town Building and Ashville Fire Department. Many hands will be needed and Senior Citizens are asked to volunteer.

Thule Lodge Members Meet

FALCONER — Members of the Thule Lodge met recently for their meeting at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer. Lodge chairman Tom Eckberg open the meeting while vice chairman Susan Sipos gave the chaplain’s opening and closing invocations. Secretary John Sipos led all in the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag, read the roll call of officers, and then read the minutes of the previous meeting. Treasurer Loretta Smith gave the financial report of the lodge. Lodge cultural leader Mary Ann Eva Ingrao talked about the innovations that the Swedish technology invented in the early 1960s, which are used worldwide. The three corner seat belt was invented through Swedish technology and is now used by all. She said there was no patent as the industry wanted other manufacturers to use the belt to prevent fatalities. The rear facing baby seat was also a Swedish innovation that is wide spread from Swedish technology. Cultural leader Ingrao talked about the Swedish dance team practicing weekly and finding a location for their practice. The dance team she said is one of the activities preserving Swedish heritage. Smith said a corn roast and chicken barbecue is being planned for the future for all Thule members by the 3C’s catering at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer. As soon as the details are finalized, invitation cards will be sent out to members.
