Ellington Board Sets Meeting

Village, Town Name Historian
WESTFIELD — Marybelle “Bee” Beigh, former Westfield historian, has been reappointed Westfield village historian by the Westfield Village Board at its May 17 board meeting and appointed Westfield town historian by the Westfield Town board at its June 2 meeting. The Westfield Historian Office is now located in Eason Hall, second floor, the southeast corner office between the Village Recreation Department office and the court offices. The Eason Hall address is 23 Elm St., Westfield NY 14787. Temporarily, the Westfield historian may be contacted by phone at 397-9254, until an official phone number, email address and website URL are established. The Westfield Historian’s weekly newspaper column, “BeeLines” will resume publication in the Westfield Republican’s next available issue.
City Parks Are Smoke Free
The city of Jamestown has seen record usage of its parks and public spaces during the pandemic. As the city transitions back into summer, the number of people using the parks continues to climb. City officials want everyone to enjoy the natural spaces, sports fields and recreational areas in a safe, healthy environment, and would like to remind residents and visitors that all city parks are smoke-free spaces. If an individual is caught smoking, they may be asked to leave the park. Please refrain from smoking and vaping all substances when in these public spaces.
School Board To Meet Thursday
FREWSBURG — The Frewsburg Central School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the middle-high school library. Those who wish to attend in person should inform the district clerk by calling 569-7041 or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org by 3 p.m. the day of the meeting. Face masks must be worn and social distancing observed. The meeting will also be streamed live at ensemble.e2ccb.org/Watch/FrewsburgCSDBOE. Blood Bank Sets June 11 Drive
WESTFIELD — The Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, June 11, at Westfield Memorial Hospital. To schedule an appointment, call Kathy Hastings at 450-0376. Appointments are strongly encouraged to help adhere to social distancing and other safety protocols. Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; they are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 3 months; are in good general health and do not have a cold or the flu. Donors must have a valid photo ID in order to donate. Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good, solid meal and drink at least 18 ounces of water.
