Arborist To Speak At Marvin House Lunch

The Marvin House will host Dan Stone, Jamestown arborist and parks manager, as its speaker for the May 20 membership luncheon/program. The luncheon, followed by the honored speaker, begins at noon. Stone’s presentation will include the legacy of the West Third Street oak trees and the future for the city’s west side entrance. Contact the Marvin House for reservations at 488-6206 or marrvinhouse@netsync.net. Cost is $17 for members of the Marvin House and $20 for non-members. The Marvin House follows all COVID-19 protocols. The Marvin House, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a meeting place for those engaged in literary, musical, educational, patriotic, scientific, or historical work.

St. Susan To Hold Dinner

A drive-through chicken and biscuit dinner will be held at St. Susan Center, 31 Water St. in Jamestown from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday. Dinners will include chicken and biscuit with gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and a dessert. Each meal costs $12 for adults and $6 for children 5 and under. Pre-sale tickets are available by calling 664-2253 or email secretary@stsusancenter.org. Dinners will be for sale at the event on a first-come basis and helps support St. Susan Center.

Cemetery Board To Meet Tuesday

WESTFIELD — The Westfield-Portland Cemetery Board will have its annual meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Westfield.

Soil, Water Board To Meet May 19

The Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District board will meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bemus Point United Methodist Church, 4954 Bemus-Ellery Road, Bemus Point. Call 664-2351, ext. 102, or email Chaut-Co@soilwater.org if interested in attending so that attendance numbers can be recorded and attendees can be provided with COVID-19 safety protocol meeting guidelines, the room location and parking instructions.

Library To Host Book Sale

LAKEWOOD — Lakewood Memorial Library, 12 W. Summit Ave., will be celebrating spring with a three-day book sale, May 20-22 in the library’s Heritage Room. The event will feature a wide variety of children’s and adult books and DVD’s, as well as CDs and other items. Hardcover and paperback, fiction and non-fiction, old and new – there is something for everyone and everything is priced to sell. Hardback books, DVDs and CDs are $1 each, and paperbacks are 50 cents each and everything will be half-price on Saturday, May 22. Masks will be required at the event and social distancing will be observed. If necessary, the library will also limit the number of patrons allowed in the sale room. Book sale hours are: Thursday, May 20, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, May 21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, May 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., which is also half-price day.

Garden Work Party May 20

The annual garden work party at First Lutheran Church has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. The rain date is now from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20. Volunteers will weed, spread mulch and plant herbs and annuals. For any questions, call Janet Wahlberg at 567-4064 or 499-2155.
