BPU Offices Will Be Closed For New Year’s

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday for the New Year’s Holiday. Customer service will reopen for business at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4. Garbage and recycling will not be collected on Friday, New Year’s Day. Friday’s collection will take place on Saturday, Jan. 2. Recycling for the week of Dec. 28 to Jan. 2 will be cardboard and boxboard. As a reminder, garbage and recycling will be collected on New Year’s Eve day. Customers who need to pay bills after-hours can pay online at jamestownbpu.com on “My Account” on the home page. Payments may be made at 661-1660 at ext. 3. Customers may leave checks in drop-off boxes located in the BPU customer service parking lot, down the D driveway, 92 Steele St.; outside City Hall on Tracy Plaza; and inside the vestibule of the Jamestown Police Department entrance on Second Street. Payments left after-hours should only be made by check or money order, not by cash.

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop Holds Sale

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets in Jamestown, announces 50% off all Christmas items including clothing, 50% off all toys, 50% off all ladies sweaters, 50% off infant clothing to size 24 months, and ladies pants all $1. There is a large selections of all men’s, ladies and children’s winter clothing and small household items. Off-street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street. At this time, enter on Pine Street. Face covering, social distancing and contact tracing signing is required. This week the shop is open Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Regular hours will return in January. Sales and receiving are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; receiving only Tuesday 9 a.m. to noon.

Mobile Pantry Truck Will Be At Ashville UMC

ASHVILLE — The Food Bank of Western New York Mobile Pantry Truck from Falconer will be at the Ashville United Methodist Church today. Open hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 3-5 p.m. The truck brings fresh produce and some staple items. To receive free food, only proof of address from the following ZIP codes is required: Ashville 14710, Bemus Point 14712, Celoron 14720, Lakewood 14750, Niobe 14758, Panama 14767, Stow 14785 and anyone who lives in the town of Busti. Those taking part are asked to wear a face mask and keep 6 feet in distance while in line. The food will be pre-boxed like last month. For more information, call Martha at 763-9252.

New Way To Pay Property Taxes

The city of Jamestown has unveiled a new way for taxpayers to pay property taxes in 2021. Property owners may now go online to pay taxes in addition to paying in person at the municipal building or mailing in tax payments. The city has an agreement with MuniciPAY which allows for the third-party processing of credit card and eCheck payments. The online payment option has a flat $1.50 fee for eCheck payments, or if you’re using a credit card a 2.65% convenience fee. Property owners may pay online by visiting jamestownny.gov/pay/ and clicking the “Make a Payment Online” button at the top of the page. Payments can be made in person at city hall, 200 E. Third St, Jamestown. Payments also can be mailed by making checks payable to “city treasurer” and mailed to: 200 E. Third St., Jamestown, New York 14701.
