Bear Lake VFD Meat Giveaway

BEAR LAKE, Pa. — The Bear Lake Volunteer Fire Department will hold a meat giveaway starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. Those attending will remain in their vehicle or can sit outdoors in lawn chairs during bidding for 25 meat packages. There will also be a Chinese auction, pull tabs and 50-50 tickets. The kitchen will be open.

AOC To Ride Bikes On Trail

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes on the Allegheny River Trail starting at the Saltbox visitors center in Franklin. The group will meet at Betts Park in Warren at 1 p.m. or the Saltbox at 2:30 p.m. For more information, call Linda Ross at 814-688-5908.

Ross Grange To Meet Monday

Ross Grange will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at the Falcon’s Nest. Betty Wakefield has arranged for lunch to be served. Those attending should wear face coverings and social distancing will be observed. It has been decided to not have the “Holiday Happenings” craft show in November due to the COVID-19 regulations.

VFW Auxiliary Meeting Wed.

The John W. Tiffany Post 53 VFW Auxiliary will hold its next meeting on Wednesday at the ILS Veterans Club, 364 Fluvanna Ave. at 5:30 p.m. The group will be following new COVID-19 guidelines. Members will also welcome a visitor, Margaret Sheldon, from VFW Auxiliary Post 2522 in Pine Valley, who has been selected by District 6 President Tamara Cummings to preside over the annual inspection. Members are asked to wear a mask. Paper and sanitized pens will be provided for each member to take any notes. Social distancing will be observed; hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes will be available.

Ripley BOE To Meet Oct. 15

RIPLEY — The Ripley Central School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Ripley Central School cafeteria. Social distancing will be practiced and masks must be worn.

WNY Girl Scouts

Hosting Party

The Girl Scouts of Western New York will host a virtual pajama party from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16. The Zoom Party is for girls entering kindergarten through sixth grade living in Western New York who are not currently registered Girl Scouts. Girls are invited to wear their pajamas and Girl Scouts staff will host games, sing songs, have dancing, an activity and scavenger hunt. Ellington Church Sets Giveaway

A free family winter clothing giveaway, which will include coats and hunting clothing, will take place from noon-2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Ellington Community Church. Those attending are asked to wear a mask and use sanitizer at the door.

Elected Officials Endorsed

Both state Sen. George Borrello, R-Sunset Bay, and Assemblyman Andrew Goodell, R-Jamestown, have been endorsed by Unshackle Upstate. Unshackle Upstate, through its political action committee UPAC, has announced its slate of 2020 legislative endorsements.
