JPS To Hold A Virtual Q&A For Parents, Students

The Jamestown Public Schools District will hold a virtual parent/student Q&A today at 10 a.m. with Superintendent Kevin Whitaker. The session will be held at facebook.com/jamestownpublicschools or by Zoom at jpsny.org/jpslive. Schools will also be holding building-level virtual presentations with parents regarding specific reopening plans the week of Aug. 24.

Blood Drive Set At UPMC

The Community Blood Bank is holding a blood drive Thursday, Aug. 27, from 1-5 p.m. at UPMC Chautauqua, 207 Foote Ave., Jamestown. To schedule an appointment, call 450-0376. The CBB implemented precautionary measures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all donors, staff and volunteers. Those precautionary measures include all donors and staff members required to wear masks; temperatures of all personnel at the blood collection location are taken prior to entering the blood drive, extra sanitation measures are taken in between every donor and the chairs; and collection beds are spread further

Planning Board To Meet Sept. 1

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville. The County Planning Board meets on the first Tuesday of every month and are always open to the public.

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop Announces Summer Sale

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets in Jamestown, announced its summer clothing clearance sale. Ladies tops, capris, slacks, shorts, dresses, bathing suits and plus-sized clothing are half price. Men’s slacks and shorts are half priced, with shirts at $1. Children’s clothing is all half-priced. Those who shop are asked to enter on Pine Street and exit to the church parking lot. Face coverings will be required.

Recognizes 99th Birthday

Members of the Benjamin Prescott Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution met at the Pioneer Cemetery in Fredonia on Aug. 15. While enjoying each other’s company, the members also recognized the 99th birthday of Janice Weitz, associate member of the chapter, by presenting her with cupcakes.
