Brown Wins Over Sargent On Election Night

A 14-vote election night lead for Douglas K. Brown over Randy L. Sargent expanded in the Republican Primary election for Busti Town Council vacancy, as the Chautauqua County Board of Elections has added the absentee and affidavit ballot numbers into the election night totals and certified a 276-246 victory for Brown. The winner secured the GOP line for the Nov. 3 General Election and will possibly face off against a yet to be named Democratic opponent. Sargent is filling the town council vacancy by appointment of the Busti Town Board. No other political parties filed candidates for this vote. The Board of Elections has also forwarded county totals for the Democratic Presidential Primary and the Libertarian 8th Judicial District State Committee Primary, according to Election Commissioners Norman P. Green and Brian C. Abram.
