Historical Society Cancels Meeting

SINCLAIRVILLE — The July meeting of the Valley Historical Society has been canceled. The meeting place is not conducive to social distancing. The next scheduled meeting will be a picnic meeting in the Sinclairville park on Aug. 4. Distancing should not be a problem outdoors so this meeting will most likely take place as scheduled.

Thrift Shop To Open July 1

Second Street To Be Closed

West Second Street, from Jefferson to Lafayette streets in Jamestown, will be closed to traffic through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The temporary closure is taking place to allow crane access to the Northwest Arena roof. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes of travel during this time.

Vehicle Parade Set In Falconer

FALCONER — The village of Falconer and Falconer Central Schools announced that a vehicle parade will be held on Friday starting around 7:30 p.m. on Main Street in Falconer to congratulate the Class of 2020. Residents of the village are welcome to stand in their driveways and lawns, using safe social distancing practices as the parade goes by. Parade will start at Falconer Central School and proceed west on East Main Street to North Alberta Street, north on Alberta Street and then east on West Falconer back to Falconer Central where it will end. Graduates and their families will participate, along with area volunteer fire departments and the Ellicott Police Department. Residents are invited to make up signs and banners to display to the graduates.

BPU To Close On Friday To Observe Holiday

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday, but garbage and recycling will be collected as usual on Friday. The yard waste site will be closed on Saturday, July 4, due to the holiday. Customers are reminded that online payments may be made by credit card, debit card and e-check at jamestownbpu.com. Phone payments also may be made by credit card, debit card and e-check, by calling 661-1660, ext. 3. Checks and money orders may be left in drop-off boxes located at the top of the BPU’s “D” driveway, 92 Steele St.; outside City Hall on Tracy Plaza; and in the Jamestown Police Department vestibule on East Second Street. Checks and money orders must include BPU account numbers to receive proper credit for payments.

Yard Sale Set For July 24-25

WESTFIELD — The Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue will hold its eighth annual Dog-Gone Good Yard Sale on July 24-25. Visit www.caninerescue.org for more information. Good, clean, saleable donations will be accepted starting July 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Learning Center at the shelter.
