MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Legislature Public Safety and Human Services committee meetings scheduled for today has been canceled.

BPU Crews Repair Water Main Break

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities said water crews were repairing a water main break in Jamestown on Woodlawn Avenue and Falconer Streets near Jamestown Community College on Tuesday. Water will be off on Woodlawn, between Falconer and Second streets, while work is completed. The BPU said water may be discolored in the area once water is restored and can be expected to clear in 12 to 24 hours.

School Voter Registration Day Is Announced

SALAMANCA — The Salamanca City Central School Board of Education announced that Voter Registration Day will be held Monday, April 20, in the district clerk’s office, 50 Iroquois Dr., Salamanca, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Voter Registration Day will be held to register voters who are not currently a registered voter for the annual school board meeting/budget vote and board of education member election to be held May 19. Native Americans who are properly registered and residing on the Allegany Reservation in the Steamburg or Coldspring area or are an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation are eligible to vote in this annual school board meeting/election.

Genealogical Conference Set For April 25

The second Chautauqua Regional Genealogical Conference will be held Saturday, April 25, at the Fluvanna Community Church. Registration is now open and classes and schedule are listed on the website. The cost will be $50 for the entire day, which includes four classes and lunch or $30 for half a day, which includes two classes and no lunch. Prevention Works Sets Fundraiser

Prevention Works will hold its annual chicken barbecue fundraiser from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 27 Allen St., Jamestown. Dinners include one-half of a barbecued chicken, two side dishes, dinner roll and desserts. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased by calling 664-3608 or 366-4623.
