Kabob Road Is Open To Traffic

STOCKTON — Kabob Road in the town of Stockton, between Route 380 and Waterman Road, is now open to traffic. All barricades have been removed.

County Health Board To Meet

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Board of Health will meet Thursday, March 19, at 6 p.m. at the HRC Building, 7 N. Erie St., Mayville.

JCC Panel To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Community College Educational Services Committee will meet Tuesday, at 3 p.m., in the Hamilton Collegiate Center boardroom on the Jamestown Campus with videoconferencing to the boardrooms on the Cattaraugus County Campus and North County Extension Center.

Coldspring Board Reviews Pact

The Coldspring Town Board met Feb. 13, and included Wendell Craig Anderson and Kenneth Dechow. Also present was Ronald Brooks Highway Superintendent. Minutes were read from the Jan. 9 meeting by town clerk and approved as read by Supervisor Tina Hyde. The annual report from Randall Brooks, code enforcement officer, was reviewed by the board. Hyde moved that a resolution for agreement for the expenditure of highway moneys for 2020 be signed. The agreement is for general repairs in the amount of $120,000 for 21.32 miles of town highways. The questionnaire for the animal control officer was completed for the Cattaraugus County Health Department. The flag in the Town Memorial Park was discarded appropriately at the Randolph American Legion. At the present time, a flag has been placed at the Memorial Park.

JPS Kindergarten Signups Set

Jamestown Public Schools is scheduled to register kindergarteners for the 2020-2021 school year, by appointment, on Wednesday, May 6, at the district administration offices located at 197 Martin Road. Any child who resides in the city of Jamestown, and who will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2020, is eligible to attend kindergarten this fall. Parents of children not currently enrolled in a Jamestown Public Schools UPK program and will be of kindergarten age are asked contact JPS Central Registration Office at 483-4344 with any questions and to schedule an appointment. Registration information and forms will be mailed to families once an appointment is scheduled. The registration day is only for students who are new to the Jamestown Public Schools. This registration is not for students who are currently enrolled in UPK programs at any Jamestown Public School UPK site, including Head Start at Bush Elementary School, Holy Family, A Children’s Place, YMCA or YWCA.

Sorority Chapter Talks Mardi Gras

SHERMAN — The Theta Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma International Sorority met recently at the home of Susan Hayes in Sherman. Hayes’ program was the Carnival and Mardi Gras Traditions and New Orleans cuisine. The program started out with all members receiving a carnival mask and beads were thrown to all. Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday refers to events of the carnival celebration. It begins on Jan. 6, The Epiphany, and ends at midnight the day before Lent begins, known as Fat Tuesday.
