Kabob Road Closed To Traffic

STOCKTON — Kabob Road, between Route 380 and Waterman Road in the town of Stockton, will be closed to all traffic beginning today.

Library Advocacy Day Rescheduled

The Hazeltine Public Library, 891 Busti-Sugar Grove Road, announced that Library Advocacy Day has been rescheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. “This is an opportunity for area library patrons and residents to let their elected officials know how important the library is,” said Katie Smith, library director. “Assemblyman Andrew Goodell will be on hand to hear concerns and share the state budget plans for local libraries through Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.” The event is free and open to the public. Anyone who cannot attend the Friday advocacy event is encouraged to contact their elected official directly to express their support for library funding.

Diamond Dinner Auction Is April 4

The Child Advocacy Program will be hosting its 10th annual Diamond Dinner Auction on Saturday, April 4, at the Chautauqua Inn and Suites in Mayville. Cocktails start at 6 p.m. and dinner is served at 7 p.m. In 2019, CAP provided services to more than 500 children, conducted 191 forensic interviews and provided more than 4,000 advocacy services. The multidisciplinary team includes medical professionals, law enforcement, mental health, prosecution, child protective services, victim advocacy and other professionals who make decisions together about how to help the child based on the forensic interview. All of the information regarding ticket purchases, donations, sponsors and advertisements can be found at capjustice.org or by calling 338-9844. The deadline for sponsorships is March 9. Seats can be reserved for $75 or two seats for $125. Each ticket is a chance to win a diamond ring, with extra chances being sold the night of the event. There will also be a silent auction throughout the evening.

Speaker Series To Continue

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Historical Society Guest Speaker Series continues on Wednesday, March 11, as Vince Martonis is welcomed to share the story of the “Clairvoyant Doctress Antonette Matteson.” A Lily Dale postcard tour will help tell her story. The event is free and open to the public beginning at 7 p.m. at the Bemus Point Historical Society Museum on Alburtus Avenue in Bemus Point. For more information, “like” the society on Facebook.

Spaghetti Dinner Benefit March 15

A spaghetti dinner benefit will be held Sunday, March 15, from 3-7 p.m. at the Fluvanna Fire Department, 3536 Fluvanna Townline Road, Jamestown. The benefit will assist William Leonard, who is battling cancer, and will include spaghetti and meat balls, salad, dessert and a drink for a $10 donation. Joe Conti is preparing the meal, and the event will also include a Chinese auction. The public is welcome to attend.

County IDA Board To Meet

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency Board of Directors will meet Tuesday, March 17, at 10 a.m. at the BWB Building, 201 W. Third St., Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.
