Portion Of Route 394 To Close

KENNEDY — A bridge rehabilitation project will close a portion of Route 394 in the town of Poland for about 10 months. The New York State Department of Transportation said Monday that the bridge over Conewango Creek and rail road will be closed for work beginning Tuesday, March 3. Motorists will be directed to follow a posted detour along Route 62, Interstate 86 and Schoolhouse Road. Pedestrians and bicycles will be directed to follow a detour along Route 62, Grubb Hill, Cook and County Line Roads. The project is expected to last 10 months, “but will be delayed in the event of inclement weather,” the state DOT said. “Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.”

Planning Board To Convene

The Chautauqua County Planning Board will meet Tuesday, March 3, at 4 p.m. at the Chautauqua County Division of Planning and Community Development office, South Portage Street, Westfield. The public is welcome to attend.

Nursing Event Set For Wed.

All nurse practitioners are invited to the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, 10 Dunham Ave., Celoron, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The mid-winter mix and mingle event is sponsored by the Region1 Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State. There is no fee. An eligible nurse practitioner will win tickets to the National Comedy Center.

Falconer Board Meets March 2

FALCONER — The Falconer Village Board will meet Monday, March 2, in the village Community Building board room, 101 W. Main St., Falconer. A work session meeting will be held at 5:45 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Sewer Panel To Meet March 3

The South and Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer Districts Administrative Board will meet Tuesday, March 3, at noon at the water pollution control facility. The public is welcome to attend.

Blood Drive To Be Held March 5

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. March 5 at the chapter offices, 325 E. Fourth St., Jamestown. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
