UPK Registration Will Be Held

FREWSBURG — Robert H. Jackson Elementary School will hold universal Pre-K and kindergarten registration for the 2020-21 school year on Monday, March 2, and Tuesday, March 3, from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1-2:30 p.m. Sarah Haines, school nurse, will be registering students. To be eligible for UPK, students must be 4 years of age on or before Dec. 1, 2020. To be eligible for kindergarten, students must be 5 years of age on or before Dec. 1. A birth certificate, documented immunization records, completed registration papers and proof of residency must be presented at time of registration. Packets with registration information are being mailed to parents in the Frewsburg Central School District. Anyone not receiving the packet and has an eligible child should call the school office at 569-7031.

Craft Time To be Held Tuesday

KENNEDY — Community Craft Time at the Kennedy First United Methodist Church will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon upstairs in the adult Sunday School room. The group welcomes members to work on their individual project or just to visit during this social time. The craft time is open to all adults. For more information, call the church office at 267-2645. The church is located at the corner of Church and Second streets in Kennedy and is handicap accessible through the lower side door.

Safe Boating Course March 7

A free New York Safe Boating Course will be held Saturday, March 7, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. sponsored by the Falconer Public Library and the Falconer Fire Department and to be held at the fire hall, 115 Davis St., Falconer. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. The eight-hour course will cover basic boating safety, state navigation rules, navigation aids, personal watercraft, paddle sports and waterskiing/tubing safety. The course fulfills the new mandatory education law that requires all motorboat operators born on or after Jan. 1, 1993, to have a boating safety certificate to legally operate a motorboat this year. All operators regardless of age will be required to have a certificate by 2025. The course is open children at least 10 years of age and adults. Pre-registration is required, and a free pizza lunch will be provided. Call the Falconer Public Library at 665-3504 to register. Seating is limited.

Prendergast To Hold Book Sale

The Prendergast Library will hold its quarterly half-off book sale starting Thursday, March 5. The event will run through Saturday, March 7. The book sale is open during regular library hours. All books are half off during the quarterly sale. Adult hardcovers are $1, adult paperbacks are 50 cents, and all children’s books are 50 cents. Bags of books can be filled for just $10; the library provides the bags. The library’s regular book sale is ongoing, and is open during all library hours. During the regular sale, hardcovers are $2 and paperbacks are $1.

Pre-Licensing Course Is Set For March 21

SHERMAN — Sherman Central School will sponsor a five-hour pre-licensing course on Saturday, March 21, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. To register, call 761-6122 during regular school hours. Those planning to attend should have their valid learner’s permit on hand when registering. The course fee is $25, and enrollment is limited.
