Planning Panel Cancels Meeting

Due to a lack of agenda items, the Jamestown Strategic Planning and Partnerships Commission said it will not meet for the month of February.

Historical Society Event Planned

BUSTI — “An Evening with Amelia Earhart” will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Busti Federated Church. The event, which is sponsored by Busti Historical Society, is free.

Railroaders Set Meeting Friday

The Independent Railroaders will host its monthly meeting Friday at Conduit Ministries, 120 Delaware Ave., Jamestown. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7 p.m. This month’s meeting will include a presentation by Roger Schulenberg on the efforts to cosmetically restore and maintain the former Boston and Maine Railroad’s No. 444 steam engine. The engine was built by the former Brooks Locomotive Company at its factory in Dunkirk in 1916 and was moved to its current home at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds on Central Avenue in 1987 along with a boxcar and caboose from the Delaware and Hudson and New York Central railroads respectively. The presentation will include a video documenting the restoration process. Attendees are asked to use the Newland Avenue entrance on arrival. For more information, contact Tim Anderson at 487-0730.

Ross Grange To Hold Gathering

FALCONER — Ross Grange will host the Chautauqua County Pomona Grange on Saturday at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer. Betty Wakefield has arranged for the meal to be served at noon. Taylor West of Chautauqua Lake Watershed Management will give a presentation following lunch. The business meeting will follow. The next regular meeting of Ross Grange will be Monday at 1 p.m. All interested are welcome to attend either meeting.

Tea Party To Talk Bail Reform

Southern Tier Tea Party Patriots will meet at the Lakewood American Legion on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Roy and Karen Harvey will present a report from Western New York officials on issues surrounding bail reform. “Ukraine: The final Piece,” by Glen Beck will be discussed, and an update will be given on New York’s Green Light law.

Pre-Licensing Course March 9

FREWSBURG — A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday, March 9, from 5-10 p.m. The cost is $25. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

SWCS Class Of 1965 Reunion Will Be Held

The Southwestern Central School Class of 1965 is planning a 55th year class reunion Saturday, July 18, at the Lakewood American Legion. A cash bar at 6 p.m. will be followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. Brad Zimmer, DJ’s Unlimited, will DJ from 7-10 p.m. On Sunday there will be a casual picnic at the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club in the pavilion from 2-4 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own non-alcoholic beverages.
