Man Injured After Sat. Stabbing

DUNKIRK — A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after reportedly being stabbed Saturday around 8:20 p.m. in the city of Dunkirk. Officers were called to Lord Street, near East Talcott Street, for a report of a man injured. The man was transported to the hospital for treatment. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Dunkirk Police Department at 366-2266.

Gas Prices Hold Steady At $2.85

Gas prices in the Jamestown area are stable this week at an average of $2.858, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report. State gas price averages in the Mid-Atlantic saw minimal movement this week. Delaware ($2.31) saw the largest decrease at three cents, followed by North Carolina at 2 cents. All other states in the region saw prices decline by a penny or hold steady since last Monday. Gas prices range from $2.29 in Virginia to $2.75 in Pennsylvania. For a second week, gasoline stocks saw a substantial 1.6-million-barrel increase. According to the Energy Information Administration, that bumps total stocks up to their highest level in six weeks — 62.3 million barrels, which is a nearly 3 million year-over-year surplus.

JPS Board Sets Meeting Thurs.

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday at 7 a.m. in the superintendent’s conference room, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown.

Church To Hold Cantata Dec. 22

On Sunday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., the Kiantone Congregational Church Choir will be performing selections from the Christmas cantata “Song of Joy.” There will be an ensemble singing “Come As You Are” and Kathleen McCosco will be the soloist for the song “That World Made Know.” In addition, the children of the church will contribute a song called “Christmas Bells.” Christmas carol favorites sung by the congregation will also be part of the service along with a short message on “The True Sounds and Sights of Christmas.” The church is located on 646 Kiantone Road.

CARTS Offers Free Rides Sat.

The Chautauqua Area Regional Transit System announced it will offer free fixed route transportation on Saturday. This is for riders utilizing the city fixed routes in the Dunkirk and Jamestown areas. The buses operate from approximately 8:45 a.m. to about 4:45 p.m. in the Jamestown area and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Dunkirk area. “This is the second year that we have been able to offer this free Saturday city fixed route service right before the holidays,” said Brad Bentley, Chautauqua County director of public facilities. “I thank all of the riders who utilize our services as it has allowed CARTS to expand its services to Saturdays.”

Clerk’s Office To Close At Noon

The Ellicott Town Clerk’s Office will close at noon on Wednesday. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

Library Board To Convene Wed.

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Library Board of Directors will meet Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
