Gifts Galore Event Is Set Sat.

The Salvation Army in Jamestown is holding its annual Gifts Galore Event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Salvation Army Gym. Over 30 vendors offering a wide assortment of gifts and crafts will be at the event. The “Great Runfola” magician will be present doing various magic acts. A cake walk will take place at 1:30 p.m., with donations from Tops, Walmart, Panera Bread, Arby’s, Brookdale, Davidson’s, Full Moon Rising Bakery and La Scala Restaurant. Tickets to participate in the cake walk are $5 at the door. For more information, call 720-5905.

Ranger Locates Missing Hunter

EAST OTTO — A forest ranger with the New York state Department of Environmental Conservation helped locate a hunter who went missing Saturday. According to the DEC, Ranger Wayne Krulish received notification that a 59-year-old hunter from North Tonawanda was missing. The hunter was located unresponsive in his deer stand by Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies about a mile and a half from Harvey Road. East Otto and Otto Volunteer Fire Department personnel, deputies, the New York State Police and Krulish assisted with the carryout to the landing zone about half-mile from Traffic Street. The hunter was transported by Mercy Flight helicopter to a local hospital at 4 p.m.

County Legislature Special Meeting Is Thursday

MAYVILLE — A special meeting of the Chautauqua County Legislature will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the legislature chambers. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss collective negotiations.

Rod And Gun Auxiliary Board To Meet Thurs.

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary Board will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The monthly auxiliary meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. The election of officers will take place at that time. The program for the evening will be local authors Robert “Bob” Terreberry and Beth Peyton. Greeters will be Mary Alonge and Sharon Purdy. Helpers are Jan DeVoe and Nancy Rasmussen. Sandy Carlson and Connie Whitman are in charge of refreshments. The annual Christmas dinner will take place Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. Dinner choices are lobster dainties, stuffed chicken breast or prime rib. Toy Drive Kicks Off Christmas Season Saturday

The Salvation Army will hold a toy drive Saturday to kick off the annual Christmas season at the Lakewood Walmart. Toys can be left at the Salvation Army collection point at the store from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Fall Dinner To Be Hosted Monday

SHERMAN — Olive Lodge 575 Free and Accepted Masons will host a fall chicken and biscuit dinner starting at 4 p.m. Monday. The lodge is located at 197 Park St., Sherman. Tickets are $10 for an adult meal including dessert. Children under 12 years of age are $5. Meals are available both in the lodge and to go.
