Kiwanis Club Plans Spaghetti Dinner Tuesday

The Kiwanis Club of Jamestown will hold its annual Election Night Spaghetti Dinner at the Salvation Army, 83 S. Main St., Jamestown, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 4:30-7 p.m. Adult dinners are $8, and children 12 and under are $5. The dinner will include spaghetti, meatballs, bread, salad, homemade desserts and beverage. Takeouts are available, and delivery is available within limited area with the purchase of five or more dinners. Proceeds from the event benefit local Kiwanis youth projects.

I-90 Bridges To Be Patrolled

A two-day volunteer crime prevention program involving New York State Amateur Radio Associations working in conjunction with the New York State Police (Troop F) as well as county law enforcement agencies will take place today and Thursday. HAM radio operators who are members of Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) will be stationed on bridges spanning the New York State Thruway guarding against pranksters from throwing items into oncoming vehicles. The operation will be controlled by fellow HAM radio operators manning radios at the Emergency Operating Center in Mayville in conjunction not only with the State Police but also with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Dept.

Sherman Sets Holiday Events

SHERMAN — Sherman has a variety of Halloween activities in the village. Activities begin at 5 p.m. today with village trick-or-treating, bobbing for apples, a haunted trail and animals from Little Angel’s Animal Sanctuary at the Rails for Trails Pavilion, 112 Franklin St., just off the I-86 Sherman exit. Nearly all of the activities are free and child-friendly. A three-story haunted house will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. at a cost of $3, with a scarier haunted house starting at 7 p.m. at a cost of $5. All proceeds benefit the Sherman Community Cat Coalition and the Little Angels Animal Sanctuary.

Bridge 264 In Harmony Open

As of Wednesday, Bridge 264 in the town of Harmony has re-opened for traffic.

Historical Society To Hear Speaker

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Historical Society Guest Speaker Series continues on Wednesday, Nov. 13, welcoming a presentation by Phil Zimmer, a local author who has written extensively on World War II for several magazines. He will present a film featuring five area veterans discussing their experiences, fears and hopes during their service in WWII. The event is free and open to the public beginning at 7 p.m. at the society museum on Alburtus Ave in Bemus Point. For more call 386-7299.

Library To Hold

Election Dinner

ELLINGTON — The Ellington Farman Library will host its annual Election night dinner on Tuesday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. or until sold out. The menu will be a full Thanksgiving turkey dinner including turkey and gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, peas, cranberry sauce with choice of dessert and beverage. Tickets are $9 for adults, $4.50 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children under 5. Take-out orders are available. No reservations are necessary.

The proceeds will go directly to benefit the library. The library is located at 760 Thornton Road, Ellington, and is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library is handicapped accessible.
