Halloween Event Will Be Held At Observatory

The Martz-Kohl Observatory, 176 Robbin Hill Road, will open its doors for a Halloween event Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Guests and members are welcome to wear costumes to the observatory for trick-or-treating, scavenger hunt and crafts along with some beverages and confections. After the event, the observatory will be open for guests and members to tour the observatory and view celestial objects.

Chautauqua Shores To Play

The Fentonville United Methodist Church will be welcoming the singing group Chautauqua Shores on Sunday at 10 a.m. The event is open to the public.

‘Done In A Day’ To Be Held Wed.

The Center for Elder Law and Justice will host a Mobile Legal Unit event to provide “done in a day” legal assistance for adults on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hotel Jamestown, 110 W. Third St., Jamestown in the Crystal Ballroom on the second floor. The event provides an opportunity for seniors to have legal questions answered by an attorney and paralegal team.

Sorority Talks About History Of Halloween

Theta Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority met Oct. 17 at the home of Joyce Anderson. Deanna Sands and Joan Wahl were co-hostesses for the evening. Anderson presented her program “Harvest Festivities of Halloween” emphasizing the history of Halloween which has evolved into the popular custom of trick-or-treating. While Anderson read ghost stories from Chautauqua Haunts by Chris Remond, members crafted unique Halloween spider webs. Following the program, Sands presided at the business meeting. The Service Committee will contact CASA who will provide children’s names for Christmas gifts. The Social Committee has finalized the Nov. 14 plans for the chapter’s birthday and the revealing of Secret Sisters at the Parkview in Westfield. The Ways and Means Committee will participate at the Sherman “Elf” Bazaar in December. Concluding the business meeting, refreshments were served with Nancy Palmer winning the white elephant.

Grange Pancake Breakfast Is Set

SOUTH DAYTON — The Villenova Grange, 431 Route 83, South Dayton, will hold an all-you-cancake brunch Sunday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $7 for a small and $8 for a large meal. The public is welcome to attend.

Turkey Party To Be Held Nov. 16

LEON — The Leon Fire Company Turkey Party and basket giveaway will be held Saturday, Nov. 16. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the giveaway starts at 7 p.m. Free refreshments and food will be available. The Leon Fire Hall is located on Leon-New Albion Road in Leon.

Church Holds Bridge Games On Thursdays

Contract duplicate bridge games are held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 35 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. For more information, call Tyn at 526-4018.
