Harmony Express To Play

The Jamestown Harmony Express will present “Love Music, Love to Sing,” on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Southwestern Central High School. The 33rd annual show will feature the Jamestown Harmony Express Chorus with the Bliss and Harmony Production Company Quartets. Tickets cost $10 presale, $15 at the door, and are available from all members or by calling 789-5248. Tickets may also be reserved by sending an email to info@harmonyexpress.com.

Observatory Sets Ribbon Cutting

FREWSBURG — A ribbon cutting will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Martz-Kohl Observatory, 176 Robbin Hill Road, Frewsburg. An open house will take place afterward until 4 p.m., with beverages and confections. The observatory will also be open for members and guests to tour the observatory and view celestial objects through the various telescopes.

Shopping Day To Be Held Saturday

Then Ellington Farman Library, 760 Thornton Road, Ellington, will host its Shopping Day on Saturday. Tickets are $10, which can be purchased at the library, and entitles the shopper to a map with highlighted stores, including Amish shops, in the Sinclairville, Cassadaga, Randolph and Kennedy areas. Shoppers are then encouraged to visit the vendors on the list between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. where they will get their ticket punched and then return to the library at 3 p.m. for coffee and homemade desserts. Participants will receive a ticket for each place visited for a chance to win gifts.

Historical Society To Meet Sat.

Members of the Allegany State Park Historical Society welcome the public to its next monthly meeting on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the conference room in the Quaker Lake Bathhouse. This month’s guest speaker is Kory Dowdy, who will be doing a presentation on the popular Seneca Indian winter sport game, “Snowsnake.” Dowdy is knowledgeable on the old, traditional Native American sport that has been carried on for many generations in his family. Meetings are free and open to the public. There is currently no park entrance charge.

Sundquist Gets IBEW Support

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 106, has endorsed mayoral candidate Eddie Sundquist for Jamestown mayor. Sundquist has also been endorsed by the United Auto Workers, Southwestern NY Building & Construction Trades Council and the Ironworkers Local 6.

School Board To Hold Meetings

SOUTH DAYTON — The Pine Valley Central School Board of Education will hold special meetings at the South Dayton Hotel on Monday, Oct. 21; Tuesday, Oct. 22; and Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. each evening for the purpose of interviewing candidates for the position of superintendent. These will be executive sessions, and no action will be taken.

Sewer District Meets Tuesday

MAYVILLE — The North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District board will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Chautauqua town meeting room, 2 Academy St., Mayville. The public is welcome to attend.
