Panama School Board Meeting Rescheduled

PANAMA — The Panama Central School Board of Education is moving the date of its next meeting from Monday to Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.

Bridge Games Hosted Tuesdays

Contract duplicate bridge games are held every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 509 Prendergast Ave., Jamestown. For more information, call Barb at 397-1266.

Rummage Sale To Be Held Wed.

The Kiantone Congregational Church will hold its annual Rummage Sale in the fellowship hall of the church on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 11 from 9-11 a.m. with $1 bag day. Proceeds will go towards missionary work.

Support Group To Hear Speaker

The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet Wednesday at the Celoron American Legion on Jackson Avenue in Celoron. Dinner is at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Alica Ekstrom from The Chautauqua Center. The public is welcome to attend.

Jamestown BOE To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Bush Elementary School auditorium. Items on the meeting agenda include a presentation of the district’s annual outside financial audit, approval for the Jamestown High School marching band’s overnight trip to Syracuse at the end of October for the New York State Field Band Conference Championships, and approval of a community development liaison agreement between the district and Jamestown Community College. The public is welcome to attend.

Glasgow Road Closed To Traffic

Glasgow Road in the town of Pomfret, between Dale Drive and Darby Switch Road, will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. No detour sign will be posted.

Serendipity To Perform Oct. 26

The eight-member women’s vocal ensemble, Serendipity, will perform a free concert for the public Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. at Christ First United Methodist Church, 663 Lakeview Ave., Jamestown.

Workshops To Be Held Oct. 17

FALCONER — A dementia behaviors workshops will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Falconer Public Library, 101 W. Main St., Falconer. Dementia can cause people to act in different and unusual ways. Some of these behaviors can be confusing and upsetting to those who care for dementia patients. Caregivers are invited to attend the free workshop to learn about strategies and techniques on how best to understand and respond to some of the most common dementia-related behaviors. Free respite care is available if needed. For more information, call 366-3335, ext. 1236 or 661-9430, ext. 1236, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday if interested in attending. The workshop is supported in part by a grant from the state Department of Health.
