Region Quilt Guild To Meet

The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will meet on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at the Busti Federated Church. The program will be Glenda Lewis from Summer Breeze Quilt Shop who will present a trunk show. Guests are welcome and refreshments will be served.

JCC Committee Meets Tuesday

The Jamestown Community College Educational Services Committee will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Hamilton Collegiate Center boardroom on the Jamestown Campus with videoconferencing to the boardrooms on the Cattaraugus County Campus and North County Extension Center. The public is welcome to attend.

Driving Class Will Be Hosted

The Bethel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, will sponsor a six-hour Smart Driving Class on Sept. 23 and 24 from 5:30-8:30 pm. Pre-registration is required by calling Jack Twinam, volunteer instructor, at 488-1264. The cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members payable in advance by check. Upon successful completion of the class, participants are eligible to receive a 10% discount on their auto insurance for a three year period.

Historical Society To Meet Sept. 15

The Fluvanna Community Historical Society will meet Sunday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. at the society. Jenn Champ of the Fenton Museum will be the speaker. Her dad and his family grew up in Fluvanna and her grandmother was well known in Fluvanna. Come hear her speak. There are no minutes from August. Members are asked to attend to discuss winter preparations.

Land Bank Board Meeting Set Wed.

The Chautauqua County Land Bank Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the IDA conference room at the BWB Building, 201 W. Third St., Jamestown. The public is invited to attend.

Library To Host Voter Event

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the James Prendergast Library will celebrate the unofficial “Voter Registration Day” holiday, with additional computers available throughout the day for voter registration and research, and staff on hand to help answer questions. The library has voter registration forms available on an ongoing basis. On Sept. 25 at 4 p.m., the library will offer a free disaster preparedness workshop run by the Red Cross. This class is free and open to all ages. Register for the event by calling 484-7135 ext. 225. Rite Aid Pharmacy will be offering free flu shots at the library from 3-5 p.m. No sign-ups are required.

Barn Dance To Be Held Sept. 20

The inaugural Jamestown Community Barn Dance will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Anderson Hall, Tree of Life Lutheran Church, 825 Forest Ave., Jamestown. Everyone is invited. No previous dance experience is necessary as all dances will be taught by area caller Joe Kwiatkowski. The dance will feature contra and square dances as well as reels and mixers. The group will dance to the music of local old-time string band, Viol Habits, with fiddle, guitar, bass and flute. Those attending don’t need to bring a partner and should wear comfortable clothing and non-sticky shoes. Admission is $5. The barn dance will be an ongoing event held the third Friday of each month.
