Historical Society Meeting Tuesday

The Valley Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the museum in Sinclairville. The plans for the annual Sinclairville History Fair to be held Saturday, Sept. 14, will be finalized. After the meeting, apple pie and cheese will be served. All those interested in local history are welcome to attend.

Commission Set To Meet

The Jamestown Parks, Recreation & Conservation Commission will meet Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the DPW conference room A on the fourth floor at City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.

Relief Zone Holds Annual Pig Roast

The Relief Zone held its 13th annual pig roast recently at the Frewsburg Firemen’s Blue Building. There were 200 dinners served, raising more than $2,000 to help support The Relief Zone. “We host our pig roast the third Sunday in August every year and it’s always a great fundraiser! So much of the community comes out to support us, from buying dinners to participating in our basket drawings. It’s always a great time with some great food!” said Lisa Lyon, The Relief Zone executive director. Organizers thanked volunteers and sponsors who helped with baked goods and other donations. JPS Board Of Education To Meet

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the administration building, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. The meeting is open to the public.

Auxiliary Board Meeting Thursday

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary Board will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The auxiliary meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. The program for the evening will be Sgt. Jeffrey Spencer. He will speak on protecting oneself mentally and physically from scams. Due to the importance of this topic, each member is encouraged to invite one female guest to attend. Greeters will be Mary Alonge and Lyn Spencer. Helpers are Sandy Carlson and Jan DeVoe. Refreshments will be provided by Sally Hagg.

Grange To Hold Pancake Breakfast

SOUTH DAYTON — Villenova Grange will hold an all you can eat pancake brunch on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 8a.m. to 1 p.m. at 431 Route 83, South Dayton. The cost is $7 for a small meal or $8 for a large. The public is welcome to attend.

Know Before U Go Event Set

The American Indian Graduate Center will sponsor Know Before U Go, a session for American Indian and Alaska Native students from ninth to 12th grade, parents and educators to learn about college preparation, scholarship opportunities and financial literacy from 9 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Jamestown Community College’s Jamestown Campus. The free event, which includes breakfast and lunch, is funded by a grant from Wells Fargo. To register, visit aigcs.org/event/know-before-u-go-jamestowncc.
