Festival Committee Final Meeting

The Labor Day Festival Committee will hold its final organizational meeting at 2 p.m. today at the Bergman Park Pavilion to discuss final preparations for the 40th annual Labor Day Festival. Outreach Center In Need Of Goods

The Community Outreach Center Thrift Store is in need of gently used clothing and household goods. All proceeds from the sale benefit local charities. The thrift store is located on the third floor of the First Lutheran Church, corner of Chandler and Center streets. Store hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Support Group To Meet Aug. 21

MAYVILLE — The Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter will host a caregiver support group meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Mayville Library, 92 S. Erie St., Mayville. Programs are free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged to ensure there are enough materials and to relay any changes to the schedules. Outdoor Club To Hike On Sunday

The Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike in Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park on Sunday. The group will meet at the Jamestown Park and Ride at 10 a.m. or at the trailhead at the park at the intersection of Seufert Road and Route 277 at 11 a.m. The hike will be a 4-mile loop plus a walk to the waterfall and eternal flame. Cruise-In To Be Held Aug. 24

WESTFIELD — The fourth annual Cruise-in by the Lake Shore Street Rod Association will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, from noon-4 p.mn. at the Grape Discovery Center, 8305 West Main Road, Westfield. All local clubs and cars are welcome to attend. The first 100 cars will receive dash plaques, with awards for the top 10 cars. The cruise-in is sponsored by Westfield Auto Center and Westfield Auto Sales. Wine will be available from Lake Erie Wine Country in addition to wine slushies and grape slushies. Library To Host Performance

The Prendergast Library will celebrate a summer of reading with a special space-themed performance by Checkers and Snoozers. Prizewinners will also be announced at the finale which will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. Checkers the Inventor and his robot sidekick, Snoozers, will take their audience on adventure to the moon in their performance. Kids can help the pair solve puzzles, win challenges, and learn about principles of science along the way. All ages are welcome at this free family event. Prizewinners will be selected through a drawing of submitted reading logs. The grand prizes this year for children are two bikes and a Lego set. Teens can compete for a $25 Visa gift card and an art set, and the prize for adults is a $25 Visa gift card. Call 484-7135 ext. 234 for more information.
