Support Group Meets Thursday

FLUVANNA — The Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter will host a caregiver support group meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave., Fluvanna. Programs are free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged to ensure there are enough materials and to relay any changes to the schedules. To reserve a seat or for more information, call chapter office at 800-272-3900. Information about dementia and caregiver resources is also available through the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging at 753-4582.

Kayak Mass Planned Sunday

St Luke’s Episcopal Church will be holding its monthly Kayak Mass on Sunday. Participants are invited to join paddlers from 4-6 p.m. for a group excursion which will conclude with a service of Communion on the lake. The August excursion is planned to launch from Mayville. The event is open to anyone, regardless of religious affiliation. Paddlers should bring their own canoes and/or Kayaks and life vests. There will also be a limited number of rentals available through Evergreen Outfitters, who will deliver the kayaks and equipment to the launch site. Anyone interested in renting should contact Evergreen in advance at 763-2266. Participants are asked to contact the church office at 483-6405 for more information. Check the St. Luke’s Jamestown Facebook page for changes in launch site or cancellation due to inclement weather.

Support Group Gathers At Legion

CELORON — The Breast Cancer Support Group of Jamestown will meet Wednesday at the Celoron American Legion. Dinner is at 6 p.m. with speakers at 7 p.m. The Rev. Robert and Linda Lewis will speak on the trips they took this summer. Guest are welcome. Those going through the journey with breast cancer are welcome to attend.

Street Parking

To Be Restricted

The Jamestown Department of Public Works will be restricting street parking on East Third Street between Spring Street and Prendergast Avenue as well on Prendergast Avenue between East Second and East Third streets today as crews mill the street.

Ladies Aid To Meet Thursday

KIANTONE — The Kiantone Congregational Church Ladies Aid will meet Thursday at noon at the fellowship hall. Fifteen ladies attended the recent meeting. Jean Berg opened with a prayer and lead the meeting. Marilyn Lewis and Karen Swanson were hostesses. Lewis provided the devotional “gifts.” Karen Swanson read the secretary’s report and Joan Spontaneo read the treasurer’s report. Lewis read a letter from Thailand missionary Deborah Guzman. Dates for the Harvest dinner and Rummage Sale were set. Grandma’s Attic items will be collected for the upcoming lawn social. Cindy Hotchkiss closed the meeting with a prayer.

Show Planned For Local Library

WESTFIELD — G.C. Myers will present his Icons and Exiles show in the Octagon Gallery in the Patterson Library at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23. The library will also host Culinary Creations creating cold and cool potluck dishes for its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at noon in the library’s main reading room.
