In Board Room

PANAMA — The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.

Ellington Quilters Meeting Monday

ELLINGTON — The Ellington Quilters and Crafters will meet Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ellington Farman Library. All adults are invited to come, work on their project or visit. The group meets the first and third Mondays of each month. The library is located in the former Lock, Stock, and Barrel on the Town Square in Ellington, 760 Thorton Road. The library is handicapped accessible. For more information, call the library at 287-2945. Library hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The library is closed Friday and Sunday.

Kennedy Food Pantry Open

KENNEDY — The Kennedy First United Methodist Church Food Pantry and Children’s Clothing Closet serving Falconer Central School District residents is open Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. The pantry strives to provide each family with two or three days of food, but is limited to type depending on the food donations that have been received. The pantry is stocked through individual and group food and monetary donations. The clothing closet provides children’s clothing from birth through teen sizes. For more information, contact the church office at 267-2645. The church is located at the corner of Church and Second streets, Kennedy, across from the Poland Town Hall and Poland Post Office and is handicapped-accessible through the lower side door.

Historical Society Discussing Ice

The history of the ice industry on Chautauqua Lake will be presented Tuesday at the Harmony Historical Society. Local historian and author Fletcher “Ned” Ward of Bemus Point has spent a number of years researching many events, attractions and industries found on and around Chautauqua Lake. Among those topics is ice harvesting, a thriving industry that spanned from about 1870 to the 1930s. His third book entitled “The History of Chautauqua Lake’s Ice Industry,” includes much of the research that will be featured during his presentation. Dinner begins at 6 pm. Bring a dish to pass and table service. Program starts at 7 p.m. All programs are open to the public.

Antique Car Club To Hold Meeting

The Antique Car Club will hold its June meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the War Vets Recreation Club on Fluvanna Avenue. Those attending do not need an antique car to join. For more information about joining, call 287-3754. New members are welcome.

Deli Dog Day Event In Hartfield

The Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue is hosting its Deli Dog Day event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Olde Corner Deli in Hartfield. Tickets are on sale for a patriotic basket giveaway that will be drawn during the event. To view the basket or purchase tickets, visit the shelter from 1-3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Anyone bringing a Nylabone, tough Kong toy or a destructive-proof plush dog toy, made in the U.S., to the Deli will receive one giveaway ticket for free.
