Churches Set Lenten Lunches

FALCONER — Churches in Falconer will combine to supply lunches on each Wednesday during Lenten. These lunches will begin on March 20. The first will be at Falconer First Baptist Church; March 27 at Bethlehem Lutheran; April 3 at Our Lady of Loreto; April 10 and Peach Wesleyan; and April 17 at Falconer United Methodist. A short devotion will be followed by a light lunch. All are welcome.

‘City Of The Day’ Designated

Jamestown on Thursday was named “City of the Day” by Sirius XM’s 60s on 6 channel due to the national designation of the National Comedy Center. The recognition was made by DJ Phlash Phelps during his popular morning radio show and came two days after President Donald Trump signed a bill officially designating the NCC as the official National Comedy Center in the country.

American Legion Sets Anniversary

The Lakewood Legion Post 1286 will be hosting “The Chillbillys” on Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight. Dinners will be served from 5-9 p.m. Corned beef and cabbage will be $8.95. Other specials will be served. The 100th anniversary of the American Legion will be observed that day. All members and quests are welcome.

JCC Board Meets On Tuesday

OLEAN — The next meeting of the Jamestown Community College Board of Trustees will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in the boardroom on the Cattaraugus County Campus, Olean, with videoconferencing to the boardrooms on the Jamestown Campus and JCC North County Training Center in Dunkirk. The public is welcome to attend.

Railroaders Will Hold Meeting

The Independent Railroaders will meet today at Conduit Ministries in Jamestown at 120 Delaware Ave. Parking is available in the lot facing Newland Avenue. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. This month’s program is a show and tell. Members are encouraged to share their current modelling projects including new structures, railroad rolling stock, scenery, electronics and anything else that members have been working on. Dave Cole will also give a demonstration on kitbashing techniques. New members are welcome. For more information, contact Timothy Anderson at 487-0730.

Poland Seniors Meet Wednesday

The March town of Poland Senior Citizens will meet Wednesday at the Kennedy Fire Hall at noon. It is a dish to pass and bring your own table service. Committee for March is Carolyn Widmark. If possible, please bring in a non-perishable item for the Kennedy Food Pantry. April’s Meeting will be April 17, and will be a catered lunch by 3-C’s Catering. Cost will be $11 for members and $13 for non members. Sign ups will be at the March meeting or you may call 487-9758.

Library Board To Meet Thursday

The James Prendergast Library Board of Trustees will meet Thursday, March 21 at 5:15 p.m. at the library.
