Man Charged After Failure

Jessie Burham, 62, of Ashville was charged with violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act and making a punishable false written statement at 9 a.m. Friday.

According to a police report, Burham was arrested at the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Dept. for failing to properly report required information to the state sex offender registry and allegedly making false written statements to Sheriff’s Dept. investigators.

He was arraigned in the centralized arraignment facility and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Kennedy Man Faces Charges

A Kennedy man has been charged after allegedly trying to take heroin and a hypodermic needle into the South County Office Building, 110 E. Fourth St., Jamestown.

James A. Brandow, 30, of Kennedy was charged at 12:16 p.m. Friday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument and a Family Court arrest warrant. Brandow was taken to Chautauqua County Family Court to be arraigned and was to be taken to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment on the criminal charges.

Panama BOE Meets Monday

PANAMA — The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.

Needs Volunteers

The Alzheimer’s Association Western New York chapter is looking for volunteers to oversee its monthly support group in Mayville and Jamestown. Chapter officials are requesting a one-year commitment to the role. The Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York sponsors a number of caregiver support groups across the eight-county region it represents and is offering a free training program for those interested in facilitating the meetings. The groups meet monthly and are designed to provide emotional and social support for caregivers and help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems. Meeting facilitators also encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical, and emotional health, as well as provide the best care possible for the person with dementia. Spring Concert Singers Needed

The Community Music Project Chorale is now looking for singers for its spring concert to be held May 18 with rehearsals beginning March 19. It is the group’s goal to bring music to as many as possible without costs usually associated with joining a community group. CMP has 95 volunteers singers ranging in ages from 17-93 years old from Ashville, Mayville, Stow, Findley Lake, Randolph, Clymer, Portland, Panama, Dunkirk, Frewsburg, Westfield, Fredonia, Ellington, Chautauqua, Warren Pa, Stockton, Sinclairville, Falconer, Jamestown and Lakewood.
